As climate change threatens our shores, communities, health, and livelihoods, the need to protect and restore our marine and coastal environments has never been more urgent.

The pioneering RoSE project aims to champion Yorkshire’s unique regional marine and coastal environments and raise awareness of the connected benefits they provide to the health and resilience of nature, people, and communities.

Recovering our Seascape Ecosystem

(RoSE) Project

Through the project we will:

  • Provide advice and guidance on coastal and marine ecosystems to the regional LRNS development process through active engagement with stakeholders, local experts and the general public.

  • Identify data challenges and evidence gaps, to inform both the LRNS process and future YMNP projects.

  • Build awareness of the importance of Yorkshire’s coastal and marine ecosystems and empower the public to champion our iconic Yorkshire coast.

The project is led by the Yorkshire Marine Nature Partnership with support from the North York Moors Trust and funded by the Environment Agency’s Championing Coastal Coordination (3Cs).

We aim to develop a marine nature recovery strategy for the iconic Yorkshire coast and represent the marine and coastal environments (out to 12 nautical miles) in both the North Yorkshire and Hull and East Yorkshire Local Nature Recovery Strategy (LNRS) processes.
